Was digging a target and looked over and saw this piece.
It’s nice but the corner is broke off.
Found just a stones throw from the Grand Village of the Cherokee Nation in central IL
Have found a few other pieces here one was an interesting piece of bottle that had been flaked off for a scraper .

Just cleaned up my finds from that days hunt and the copper point in the middle was bent and folded and I did not realize what I had, it’s a beauty after straightening out .
Also found great musket flint, going back after some rain CEE46E61-806D-44CF-B09E-C25473487A60.jpeg

It is a good site , almost 600 digs , a lot of good stuff and some surface finds while detecting too

I like that copper point! Makes you think where they got the copper from. Mined? Or recycled from other copper? Good spot. Congrats

They call them “kettle points” as there made from parts of discarded copper kettles.
This pic is one of my best ones , have several that are just triangles and no side notches and a hole in the end to help secure it to the shaft
