Probably not native but I have no clue. Found at the river where I’ve found many artifacts. South Carolina ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1558293687.167514.jpg

Can you show pictures of inside the Bowl and the Stem? It looks like Steatite which gives it a really good chance of being ancient and not modern. Great looking Pipe!

By the way, I gave you a vote for the Banner. Complete Pipes are rare finds and it deserves being there. Hope more people do the same.

That's great. Now, make a stem and post a vid of you using it for what it was made for! Congratulations. Haven't found one of those yet

I think it's an ancient artifact, but could also be contact period. I don't think it's a modern pot pipe!

That's old my friend, definitely not modern. It'll take someone more versed in NA artifacts than me to date it accurately. Real nice find.

So far I’ve only heard that it’s not modern. I’m pretty excited about lol

Sure looks older especially the way the rim isn’t the same shape all the around wonder if it’s steatite ? The circle imprints are odd too I wonder if it’s possible that something was attached or pressed jnto it like a shell for decoration ?? Cool find

Looks good and the fact you found it looking for artifacts on the river and not on ebay gives it a lot of credentials. Good save!

Absolutely awesome find! Congratulations!

I would not get overly agressive cleaning it. I’ve seen quite a few pipes with damage from people scratching up the inside trying to get holes to meet. Both steatite and pottery can be soft.

Very nice native America pipe. I have never heard of colonial peoples using steatite for a pipe. Way to Go!
