Welcome F1sher. I don't know why you think this is an artifact but I think not. It's hammered alright! Much like me right now!

I found this in the tidal Potomac River area near where I’ve found arrowheads and pottery in the past. I was wondering if it is an Indian artifact-perhaps a hammering instrument.

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard F1sher! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - I am leaning towards it just being a normal rock - you might consider posting your pictures on ROCKS/GEMS for other opinions.

Thanks all for your advice. I was curious for your input because I found this nearby.
