I was out walking a creek today and found this old bone partially submerged in a gravel bed.
Not sure of the age, but it definitely looks old. I can see that it's been chewed on, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it.

Also ran up on an angry lil danger noodle.

Yes he was! Dropped off a tree limb about 8 feet away from me. I just snapped a pic and let him be.

Rodent gnawed bone. A deer leg bone maybe.

Winner, Winner, Squirrel Dinner!

It's got the right shape and look for a bone tool so good eye on spotting it! But as Tdog mentioned those marks are from rodents/critters gnawing on bone/antler, lots of nutrients in there.

Thanks! I kinda figured it was just chewed on.
Question: Is the dark color because it's really old? Doesn't look like creek stain.
I've found lots of stuff in a particular field, but haven't had any luck in the 4 creeks that I've walked out here in the country. Eyes peeled..

Bone Tools are almost always very highly polished from extensive use. Here's a couple trays for you to study.
