4 1/4 by 1 3/8 Thonotosassa found by me in Hillsborough County Florida in .... guess what city.... Thonotosassa (kind of ironic). I was going to save this for a Sunday artifact post but decided Saturday was good enough this time. Unfortunately it has a slight tip ding but at least the rest of it was there. Here's some cool trivia on the definition of "Thonotosassa ".
The name "Thonotosassa" comes from the Seminole-Creek words ronoto "flint" and sasv "some", meaning the place was a source of valuable flint. Following the establishment of Fort Brooke in 1824 in what is now Tampa, a road that ran northwest of Lake Thonotosassa was built between Fort Brooke and Fort King in Ocala.
