after a while it makes ya wonder if anyone back then ever would've sought to save themselves the trouble of actually having to carve or shape a likeness out of anything for that matter, eh

there is some truth to that...many pestles for instance, started life as a longer cylindrical river stone and was then shaped and used.

I found one once while hunting and brought it home for my garden, every time I went out into my back yard, I would see this rock looking at me, finally, a year later, I took it back to the location where I had found it.
