I found these at different times in different locations(all SW Iowa). Not sure how these would have been oriented. I don't know anything about native American symbols or such but I do know these are something done by man. 20200802_081044~2.jpg

I know nothing about artifacts, but these are interesting and keepers for sure. Nature can do some strange things. We were prospecting in Vermont. My wife found a rock that looked like a petrified submarine sandwich and another looked exactly like a russet potato. Would love to take the potato to a produce counter and watch the fun.

Sometimes you have to ask if it was native what function would it serve. I’m thinking natural but best explanation I can pull out of my rear would be a type of ammonite shell where the groove would be the opening and the dimple would be the very front of a whorl. When the fossil eroded away it could leave such a pattern... maybe?
