They remind me of the platforms that are holding the points in the air in a wash.
Looks a lot like natural Hematite which is very common at native American sites in my area. I've found about twenty pounds of it in all shapes and sizes. You have, if they are actually Hematite, very cool and unique specimens.
These are a very unique group of artifacts, as I (personally) have never come across any mention or photos of this exact type of primitive piercing used in North America. (Excluding Islands and Territories).
Can anyone enlighten us on this subject with regards to region and the likely cultural time period?
Is their any information very specific about the use of Steatite for this purpose?
