A Few More Central Georgia Quartz Artifacts

Went back to one of my quartz sites in Central Georgia. This is my go to spot when I want quantity over quality; technically when I'm almost guaranteed to come home with at least something; Plus it's close to home.

Nice saves. Why is it that that sites has the quality that doesn't seem to be so good? Is it cause of the material? and have u found other lithics points/tools there?

Probably the only stuff available to work with, otherwise easiest too knap; sometimes I think unskilled knappers. I've found other points ect.. in this area but it's been quartz (regular, some rose and milky).

The side-notched piece in pic1 was a smoker. Good finds. As I've told you before, quartz and quartzite is mostly what is available in my immediate area.

I suspect that 95% of the crude-looking quartz points found were re-sharpened repeatedly, getting rougher and rougher as this went on. Quartz is harder to work than chert because it wants to separate along hexagonal crystal faces instead of across them.

Yeah, kind of bummed about the Bolen but I'm going to let it rest in a frame anyways. Can't tell by the pictures but it's a glossy light pink; milky like texture. It's the first one I've found like that.I remember the ones you posted; good stuff. We have some milky quartz here but looks like more is up your way

I agree, being the material that it is. The smaller the artifact became the harder to work/ resharpen it.
