Oak Island treasure seekers get new five-year permits

CANADA - Treasure hunters on Oak Island just got new five-year licenses to continue searching for the South Shore island’s fabled bounty.
Previous permits were for two years at a time, but they expired in December, said hunter Rick Lagina of Michigan, who works with longtime treasure trover Dan Blankenship.
New legislation came into effect this year, but it took the Nova Scotia government seven months to issue the new licenses.
“At this point, we have to hustle to line up people and personnel to continue the search,” said Lagina.
“It's comforting to know, however, that it's a five-year license. ... You can develop a long-term program.”
