What one SINGLE thing leads you to believe anything of Oak Island?

Not being facetious, just curious. I suppose I'm invested in the program as much as anyone. I read the Readers Digest article in Readers Digest so many years ago, much like Marty and Rick, Dan and Craig, and the rest. It piqued my interest.

But as far as I can see, the story has grown from a mere tale of buried treasure to being a conspiracy involving historical figures and religions with wealth beyond the imagination. The myth and mystery at this point are more important, worth much more, than the truth. So there is no end. Even if the Lagina's dig a 500 foot deep by 500 foot wide pit, there will be some who say they dug in the wrong spot or they didn't find the real treasure.

What I see is a legend wrapped in conjecture, modified by orphan theories. Codes that could mean anything pointing to rocks that lead to more codes that lead to more rocks in a never ending circle. And nothing that says where to dig or points to anything specific. Just more conjecture.

To keep it simple, all the research, globetrotting and whatnot stuff is done.

What single piece of evidence do you base your dig on?
Where do you dig?
And what are you looking for?
