    DFX vs. XLT

    Want to upgrade from my White's classic 5 ID to a dfx or xlt
    any suggestions on the choice. I am a newbee in youngstown and want to get a better detector.
    Also any hunters want to join up and teach me the ropes ? Unemplyed with lots of free time

    HI BamBam, I have both of those. I mainly use the DFX but started with the xlt. The xlt may be on the short list for Whites so keep that in mind. The good thing is they last forever. My xlt goes back to about 92 and I did finally have to send it in for some tlc but it was cheap enough. The DFX has some added qualities. Just so you know, the DFX is an XLT with dual frequencies. The DFX responds quicker than the xlt but without using both of them you would never know the difference. Both are excellent detectors but I honestly think that the XLT often out performs the dfx on deeper coins using stock programs. The DFX has many more coil options than the xlt but if you go with the xlt be sure to buy the 5.3 bullseye coil, it is a great asset to the detector.!
