Hello. I am in Northern Kentucky. I metal detect and privy dig. I dig in Portsmouth and Ironton. I have some great sites that are cold weather sites. Maybe you can come down in the fall and hit a couple of sites. I have been hunting for 20 years and most of my finds are pre 1865. I do a lot of reserach.

WOW, someone replied finally! That is Ironton, KY and Portsmouth, OH right? They are both about 2 hours away from me so doable! What do you mean by winter sites?

I would LOVE to dig a privy!!!!! That would be so cool!

Hey. Yes I dig in Portsmouth Ohio and Ironton Ohio. A lot of my sites are in fields, woods and plowed ground so you have to wait for the grass and vegatation to die out. The crops are out by winter so it makes it easier all the way around. Thats why I call them winter sites. I try to find realy early house sites or military sites by research and them I find them and get permission. Hope this helps.
