Now just a shell of its former self, this tall and imposing former ice house still stands in the Brewery District in Portsmouth. It was constructed to store ice cut from the Ohio River during the winter months, however, old reports indicate that it was not very successful as a storage facility. It was most likely used by the Portsmouth Brewing and Ice Company, which was located nearby.

227 Front Street, Portsmouth, Ohio

I live near Portsmouth and wanted to inform everyone that this building has fallen down due to a recent storm. I guess nothing lasts forever. A sad loss to the area.
