With Michigan winter coming,
dreaming about THing and researching
are about our only options here.

Actually, everything from USGS on down will work for any state.

Another great resource for Arkansas Maps is http://www.arkansashighways.com.

You can get (my favorite) county by county DETAILED maps showing the road system in 1936, along with EACH Residence, School, Church, Graveyard, Quarry/Mine, etc. The maps are available in TIFF format, and very large if printed to full size.

I live in Ashley County, and if I wanted, I could blow this map up to 4' tall and still have really good detail without a bunch of jaggies.

The maps are free for the downloading. You can also get some city maps of the smaller towns there.

I have lived here for over 20 years since leaving New Orleans. Using the map I downloaded, I found a ghost town I never knew existed. Used to fish less than 100 yards from the old church grounds. Very Nice!
