As a property owner in Franklin County I recently received a a letter from the Army Corps of Engineers requesting access to search for ordnance and explosives from WW II. The camp size was 170,000 acres and they are still finding hazardous material. The link I've attached has some fascinating maps and photos of the area during the army's occupation. There's mention of 10 paratroopers drowning off Dog Island, assault troops practicing beach landing near Ball Point, anti-aircraft guns set up on Alligator Point and many other references to now familiar places back then. I wonder how the fellows survived living in tents in those woods in August!

Will take some beer in trade for the info.
