The Alabama site has a lot of good maps; I prefer to use either the USDA soil survey maps or the out of print USGS quad maps. Here is a tip I learned: right click on the map and go to view full screen. The only draw back to this is you have to right click again and choose the command you want to use (pan, zoom in or zoom out). You can also right click and choose save as and keep the image as a tif, something you can go to later and not have to find it on the web site again.

Using the 15 minute quadrangle maps is definenite. They can only be accessed by a computer. Not phones, yet. And you will need to follow instructions on the mr sid download. But a plus for finding old structures of turn of century.
