Some of these maps are old fire maps. I am from Lancaster and never knew that there was a well in the middle of the street near the old courthouse.

This map is kind of generic, but if you at Lancaster, it seems to be marking a military base or battle in Heath Springs. That could be the old British fort that was there. The key doesn't reference it. It's from 1825. If that marks the old fort, I don't understand why the old Brit fort that is in Rock Hill isn't marked.

This is a link to all the mile Markers in SC. It's searchable.

This guy has links to lots of old maps. You just have to remember that maps back then weren't very accurate.

Sorry guys, but after searching, I can't find those fire maps. It may be a link on one of the above websites, but I know they exist. If I find that link I will post them separate.

Hope this helps someone who might have been looking for places.

Know this is an old post, but the symbol on the first map seems to be marking "Sumpter's Battle" in the index (site 2 in quadrant Fc).

I'm guessing that is referring to the Revolutionary War battle on Jul 12, 1780 when General Sumter defeated the British on the Catawba River.
