An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

    Suggestions:
    1. Ask the Reference Desk librarian at that town's main library.
    2. Ask at that same desk for the name, etc. of the area's Historian.
    3. Ask where newspapers of that period are archived; then look in their business and classified sections.
If that source can't provide you with the answer you seek, broaden your search to the county library and newspapers.
If there is a Historical Society in the area, contact them.
If there is a BBB office in the area, ask them if they have this info or have them point you in the right direction.
