hey, i'm a newbie to this hobby..... grew up in Racine and moved to Arizona in 2001 and love it. Are you still in Racine? The beach near the Lighthouse would be a good spot to go... as they have had several shipwrecks in the area thruout the years. Have you found any old maps of Racine yet? That park across from the mall would also be a good spot, as that park has been there forever and looked so much different growing up than it does now. Kenosha would also be a good place to detect.....

Historical maps can be found by searching google for "historical (city) maps"

Go to the library and ask for the old city maps. They will give you the old slides and teahc you how to view them. They can also be printed for change. I am in Racine and that is what I have done and the maps really come in handy. :-)
