This is one of those rare pictures that are found hardly. It looks really amazing. If the current Atlantic city is compared with this old one then it will be quite different with a number of changes.

& that was Steeplechase Pier between Pennsylvania & North Carolina avenues
on the right.

Timeline of Steeplechase Pier

1899:
Opens on Aug. 5 as Auditorium Pier and is used primarily as a theater. Headliner Pauline Hill, a light opera singer, is carried onto the pier inside a trunk to avoid a restraining order from a competing venue.
1902: Leased to George C. Tilyou, who brings in band leader John Philip Sousa for performances.
1904: Tilyou transforms pier into a replica of his Steeplechase at Coney Island, N.Y.
1932: A fire started by a 26,000-light advertising sign for Chesterfield cigarettes destroys the pier. The pier is later rebuilt with Ferris wheels, a merry-go-round and a roller coaster.
1944: The pier is destroyed in the Great Atlantic Hurricane in September, and is again rebuilt.
1982: Resorts International Hotel Casino takes over the pier.
1986: Amusement rides are shut down, and the pier is used only as a heliport allowing high rollers to land directly in the center of the city.
1988: The pier is destroyed by another fire — this one started by a short circuit in electrical wiring under Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits restaurant.
1996: Remains of the pier are demolished.
2001: Resorts Atlantic City discusses plans to rebuild the pier with 200 hotel suites, a ballroom, pool and shops. Plans never materialize.
