Great pics Jeff! This is part of the Old Pennsylvania canal during the heydays. I knew quite a few people that detected this area counting me! There is still some good areas in saltsburg. Quite a few early 1800's structure still standing in this town. Plus I think the the old grist mill is a museum now. Found a lot of coppers, large cents, early silvers in this town. Really worth someone effort to research this area. There is a blockhouse & fort site really close to saltsburgh area too if you all are interested. Thanks Jeff

Home of the BLACK HAND EXTORTION GANG
From Wikipedia
Black Hand, or La Mano Nera in Italian, was a type of extortion racket. It was a method of extortion, not a criminal organization as such, though gangsters of Camorra and the Mafia practiced it.
The roots of the Black Hand can be traced to Sicily and throughout the rest of Kingdom of Naples as early as the 1750s. However, the term as normally used in English specifically refers to the organization established by South Italian immigrants in the United States during the 1880s. A minority of the immigrants formed criminal syndicates, living alongside each other. By 1900, Black Hand operations were firmly established in the Italian-American communities of major cities
Thanks Jeff: That old farm has interest me. I wounder if it the same one I did a few years back. But I'll print it out and take it to the owner to see if that's the one. The one I did was built 1809 I think? I'll keep you posted on it. Thanks Jeff.

I live in the town of Indiana. Wondering if you've ever done any detecting around this area?
I've been detecting around here for a couple years now, with some success.
I've thought about exploring the saltsburg area, but have not made it there yet.
Some of my best hunting has been around the Ligonier area.
Yeah I've hunted all around Indiana & Blairsville area too. I went to high school in Indiana early 80's. Matt we should hook up sometime. Ligonier area is a great area too to detect. Hi there! Well no. But I think that was an old stone house from the early 1800's right? I could be wrong. I was turned down on this one over 8 years ago. I think I have the same pic but from the other side. I'll have to look. But this area is a great area to detect though. Hey maybe we should hook up this spring. Send me a Email..
