While perusing the old pictures in the Palace of the Governors archives (Santa Fe, NM) I found this:
"The Mysterious Rock near Albuquerque, New Mexico" :: Palace of the Governors Photo Archives, Ben Wittick Collection
Seems to be obviously a church marker with a rifle sight for the next monument. Those are probably the Sandia Mtns in the background (which means this rock is most likely gone), but it's hard to be sure.
Any opinions?
