That's a rare find indeed. There are a lot of agencies that have warehouse spaces leased which contain old photos. And every time someone digs them up again, a call for help goes out to either touch them up/restore, or to identify people, places, etc. There's a story of Los Alamos lab digging up some old photos of items pictured during the time of the a-bomb research. They recently started a website a couple of years ago, and solicited the public's help in trying to identify what the objects were really for. Whether they were prototypes of a component for something important or if they were parts for a tool or machine of sorts. Obviously, the stuff was declassified, but even former employees of the site had no idea what the things were! Old pics are worth a thousand captions!

Your government in action, only took them 117 years to locate the pics. Cool pics though, really enjoy the one with the old shellbacks. My grandfather was in this war at the age of 17, he made a career in the Army and was finally wounded in WWI and had to retire disabled. Not many Americans alive today seem to know much about the war in Cuba and the Philippines, of course they don't seem to know much of anything concerning their own history anyways. Cheers!!
