    Newbie needs some help

    Hello,
Recently for my 40th birthday, my mother bought me an MD3080A metal detector. She said she new I always wanted a metal detector, but knew I would never go out and buy myself one (like golf lessons). Thanks Mom. The instruction manual it came with has alot to be desired and Im in need of some help. First of all, many posts and my research shows it takes 6-8 AA batteries. I have only found a location for one 9 volt battery. Second, I cant hear anything in the headphones (could be related to problem 1). If anyone has any information to help in getting me started it would truley be appreciated. Thank you all very much and happy, safe hunting....
    Sincerely,
    Richard da Newbie

I am not familiar with that model but this site has some info on several detectors including yours. It is listed as using one nine volt battery.

Maybe a fresh battery will take care of the headphone problem.

Your headphone problem may be 'mono/stereo'.If your headset is mono and the detector is stereo or vice-versa,you'll need to get an adapter from Radio Shack, about 0.80.

His headphones are hardwired into the control box.
