I've used my Troy x5 for a few years now and 8" is the deepest that I've found a coin too. I've used three different coils on it. So i got a Nautilus for its reputation of great depth. I like the Nautilus,my favorite machine now,but haven't found any deeper coins than with the Troy. I think that it's a rare occasion that a coin gets any deeper than that here in Idaho. And that might be why you aren't finding deeper coins........there just aren't many that get deeper!
