Looks like Aussie gold. The big one looks like a lil kangaroo.

They say the good gold is out in the desert between San Diego and the Salton Sea, but there is a historic mining district in Julian, Ca... Still San Diego county... SD county is Huge! We have 4 different weather zones... Coastal, inland, mountains, and desert areas.... The neews channels show weather for all 4 daily... Anyhow my little piece of paradise is somewhere in the Cleveland NF.... Working a seasonal creek I figure will only be running a couple more months until again in November or so :-(

I'd love to, but seeing how I've only been doing this for a short time myself, I've only found color in this little creek so far. Maybe in the next year I'll find myself a couple more areas.

And thanks too!, Herb... We've pulled some color out of this little area a couple times now, and have ventured upstream some with only a few test pans so far. Was hoping to find some deposing exposed bedrock in a right little canyon area, instead I found "rock gardens", mini waterfalls, and small pools. Hoping to fun some more color in the tight little pockets.

Oh man, start moving those big rocks! There's bound to be some pickers under those.

NJ, there is gold just about everywhere down here. Get the mineral resources maps for Google Earth from the USGS.

South jersey? Cumberland county? I don't like to be doubtful but it seems to be more wishful thinking

drywallman,
Be careful with your body if you decide to move boulders! At least a 6' lever bar no shorter! An 8000 lb capacity cable puller from Harbor Freight IS the tool to use with a real tire "chain" as a boulder bra or else the really wide truckers straps (flea markets have them I've been told). I believe my rotary cuff problem started from moving large boulders/tightly wedged ones with a short pry bar (4'-6"). I've since tested out the 8K hoist from HF and it is a "real tool" (the 4K model is junk and fell apart on me). Have fun treat yourself with respect!...................63bkpkr

Born and raised in Julian try Banner grade by old Wynola rd. You will be below the mines in Julian also the mines on the hills behind Whispering pines.

Bkpkr, I like your chain "bra" looks like it works well. Ya the brush can be a pain, but it seems to keep people out of there, which is good by me. I have looked into wynola, and banner, just haven't been out there yet. Need better maps, my concern would be claim jumping without even knowing it. Banner creek flows all year right?

By summer, most of Banner creek has dried up(sometimes the upper part will flow a little longer) I deer hunted it for years.
