I found a ton of these panning, they were in the bottom with the black sands.

Looks like garnet, some garnet can even be picked up with a magnet.

Well that would explain why it stuck to my magnet earlier, I thought it was just getting stuck with the magnetite. They're too small to be worth anything I guess.

Probably garnet. they are relatively heavy and you get them associated with gold bearing rocks a lot.

There is a ad in the ICMJ for a guy in Hawaii who buys garnets. He says send a small sample, or pictures...

Whats the IMCJ?

Damn, just noticed it posted the same pic 3 times, srry, but I'm hoping those little sparkles in there are gold, if so then I have a 5 gal bucket slam full of it. Can't wait till my highbanker and blue bowl get here.

You got a five gallon bucket of them? I know something I can do with them.
Let me know, pm, if you want to give up some of them. We'll work it out.

I don't have quite that many just yet. All those in the pic came from a full double hand full of gravel. It wouldn't be hard to get a bucket full theres tons of them where I go. Really messed up part, I find then in the Charleston, sc area. Along with black sands and flower gold.

I have a friend, who years ago as a young boy, found in a creek bed a garnet slab, the size of a kitchen counter top (he said).
That was in NW Ga, he said it would have to be dug out, and he can't find the location of it any more, or someone else did and got it. I love rocks, minerals, and gems, I think your finds there are nice.
What's so messed up bout them being outta Charleston? just curious......

Ive heard they can be found up state but I haven't found anything on them being found in the Charleston area. Hell, I havent heard much about gold being found down here either but I have a secret spot.
