Im new to gold panning and gave it a good 7 hours in the lead hills of Scotland yesterday. I had only found a tiny speck that I barelly managed to get out of the pan when I found this. Its very dense and has little circles of what looks like gold but im not sure. Is there any other ore or mineral that this may be or is it indeed gold?

Welcome to the forum Dan. Could very well be gold. Could let someone with a good eye for gold see it or have a jeweler test it.

It looks like limonite pseudomorph. A bit of pyrite and iron. Is it cube shaped? If so, that probably what it is. It will stay in your pan until the end like gold.
