Hi Y'all. :hello:

I have a trip to NorCal (Shasta/Siskiyou) in early March. I have a day or 2 to play. Thought about some hiking and panning for gold.
Searched a bit online, could not really find a place with instructions/directions/permits . Checked the New 49'ers site but they don't sell the temporary pass in the winter.

Any pointers? Does the weather even permit panning in early March?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Nugs

Thanks Mike.

I did not call, I checked their site: "Associate Membership is $100 paid annually to receive one week of your choice between May 1st and September 30th."

How about GPAA membership? https://www.goldprospectors.org/PriceTable.
I don't want to wander onto private property/claim so I want to join a club.

Any idea if the weather even permits to get to the sites?

The weather is what it is this time of year. Personally I don’t mind panning in the rain and often the higher river flows bring you closer to the upper gravel bar material ( often better material).

Call the office and ask for John Rose about permission to pan their claims. There’s a lot of gold in the gravel bars of the Klamath River. Often just a few strides from some nice FS campgrounds.
