$100 bill star note
I have a question for the paper currency experts. I have a 100 dollar bill star note and was just wondering if it might be worth anything other than face value. Its a fairly new bill. It is a 2006 serial number HF 01230045. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I've been carrying it around for a couple months wondering if it might be worth anything other than face value. And well to be honest with you if it aint worth more than face value I'm gonna spend it. Until recently I didn't even know there was such a thing as a star note until I saw a thread about them on tnet. I figured this would be the place inquire. So any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: $100 bill star note
Your note is from a relatively common run of 1.28 million notes and is not worth anything above face. HF00000001* - HF01280000* printed in December 2008.

Re: $100 bill star note
Agree, not a keeper. Keep looking though, you'll get a 'short run' star if you keep at it.

Re: $100 bill star note
And if a 'short run' bill is considered one with less than 1M issued, one needs to go back to New York (2001--320k) and Cleveland (1996--160k. Otherwise, IMHO, all $100 stars issued in this century are considered 'current'.

Re: $100 bill star note
My Small Size US Paper currency reference shows 2006 series runs of 128k, 320k and 2003 series with 320k, 128k, 320k, and 640k.
Those count as short runs IMO.

Re: $100 bill star note
Jason:
You're probably right. My book, A Guide Book of US Paper Money (The Official Red Book-2008) only notes "current" (no premium) for all $100 bills after 1999; no mention is made of the number issued.

Re: $100 bill star note
The book shows the 2006 series shorts at $250! And the 2003's at $200-$250.
If you need me to look up any notes, just PM me or post them. I'm glad to do it.

Hi, Jason
I just received a starred $100 bill from my credit union. There is some wear on Franklin's face where the bill has been folded in half. It is a 2003 series #DF 00674688. Can you tell me if it is worth anything?
Thanks!

I would try sending him a personal message, this is a really old thread.
