$2-bill postage stamp noted

Need your help on the reason's of having this bill post dated with cancellation stamp by US post office. As I see it, it's a 1976 issue, with the postage stamp posted also as 1976, from Steger Il. Your helpful comments on this one, any value. I'm keeping this one.
Note that the serial number ending in 1926, vs date of Bill 1976, maybe means a 50th birthday or anniversary.

The sender put too much postage on the bill. 13 cents was the going rate for a first class letter in 1976; he could have mailed it as a post card.

April 13, 1976, is the first date of issue since 1966 for the $2 bill. Long lines at banks, with lines also at post offices so people could show when they got the bills. My mother has dozens. Value: $2.

I have mine that I took to the post office and got it stamped in 1976. Supposedly for some reason it would be valuable for having the postmark cancelled on first day of issue.

yep. there was also a scam back then . Charging people Extra because of the Cancellation / Stamp
