North Park Lake being drained and dredged
I'm suprised none has posted anything on this yet. Water level is way, way down now but the mud looks about knee deep.
It's suppose to sit for a while as the mud dries for removal and will be empty all of next year.
I'm trying to find some of the old photos of it. I'm sure there were some original swim holes somewhere.
Here's a link to the project. http://www.lrp.usace.army.mil/pm/north_park.htm
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has had articles running for the last few weeks on the drawing down progress. Maybe the web site has the articles...haven't checked yet.
Ok...here's the latest article from Pgh. Post gazette....http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09288/1005424-54.stm

Re: North Park Lake being drained and dredged
I've driven by the lake several times the last few weeks, and it still looks pretty muddy. I know someone who has been detecting it the last couple of weeks. He got some good stuff and lots and lots of junk.

Hi Al, thanks for the post. I haven't been detecting due to some health problems.

Re: North Park Lake being drained and dredged
I went there about a week ago and the mud is DEEP. There is only about a few feet of dry shoreline to walk on.

Re: North Park Lake being drained and dredged
Sorry to hear that Rip....I haven't been out most of the year either because of working so many hours. Hopefully, things are looking like they are slowing down a bit and I can get some rest.
Take care of yourself.

The lake is full of water again. I don't think they cleaned it out though.

I will have to drive by and check that out the next time I am out that way. Another place I may check out while I am up there is the horse show ring.

Was out N.Park the other week. No metal detecting permitted along the low water areas. Some pics for your viewing pleasure.
