Homeless camp ? could there be Small Caches There ?
FRACKVILLE - After PennDOT crews cleared brush and cleaned up garbage Friday at a recently found homeless camp near the Interstate 81 and Route 61 interchange in Ryan Township, state police Sgt. Christopher Blugis said that it was for safety purposes.
"PennDOT crews were requested by state police to clear the brush," said Ron Young, spokesman for PennDOT District 5. "A trooper noticed it (the camp) a couple weeks ago."
Blugis, commander of the Frackville station, said the camp was discovered March 19 when state police found the corpse of Ronald Louis Coy Sr., 46, who had a last known address in Iowa. His cause of death is still undetermined.
"That area is known along the corridor as a safe haven for a transient population," he said.
In the camp area, there were tents and excessive garbage and Blugis said he saw many small, empty camping-style propane tanks that could have been used for cooking or as a source of heat.
Blugis said that before they cleared the area, there were three people living there, whom police interviewed.

I doubt it. I don't know of any homeless that would have any cache to hide away, maybe a bottle stash of liquor or some drug paraphernalia, but hey who knows, stranger things have happened.
DOWN WITH AMERICAN DIGGERS, SAY NO TO SPIKE TV! THEY MAKE ALL OF US LOOK BAD!

I found an old hobo camp once. Didn't waste my time. There were so many broken booze bottles, cans and nails galore. I guess over the years they built fires from whatever wood they could scrounge, probably from the rotted old houses in the area.
It actually kinda creeped me out there, along the RR tracks, secluded and from the looks, used in the not too distant past. I still see vagrants walking the tracks pretty frequently around here.

I do allot of trail building here in the parks and we often come across homeless camps, there's never any money, just lots of pull tabs and beer bottle caps everywhere, although the other day in a hole in a dead tree we found a drug kit with a couple of needles, a spoon, and a small crack pipe.

I don't know . Back when I was trucking I would md the camp areas on the edges of truckstops that the panhandlers laid up in at night . Never found a big stash .
I did usually find enough lost clad to pretty well pay for my weekend's food and a good bit of beer while I was laid over .
