$30,000.00 stolen from Galeton Bank 1933
An interesting article I read from the Potter County history is of a teller at a bank stealing $30,000.00 and when arrested, shot himself to death on Oct. 26th. The tellers name was Theodore R. Quick.
It states the affairs of the bank hadn't been settled
Does that mean the money was never recovered?

It was probably spent before they caught him.

Not sure. Galeton was a tiny, speck of a town back then. Everyone, knew everyone and if the teller was suddenly living beyond his means, he would have stuck out like a sore thumb. That kind of money back in those days, compared to what a teller made.
Perhaps if he stole it, small amounts at a time, he'd still have been living beyond his means. I'd say there's a pretty good chance some of it was cached away.
