Vendors, bands and more on tap for first BrewFest

The Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau is hoping people fill the Pottsville Lions Amphitheater at Gen. George A. Joulwan Park for the first Schuylkill BrewFest on Saturday.

"I fully expect 1,000 people. It's the season for fall foliage. I think people are looking forward to getting out and enjoying themselves. And it's a beautiful, scenic park we're holding it in. We're good to go and we're very excited," Regina Gargano, executive director of the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau, said last week.

With live music, food vendors serving up eastern European and German-style cuisine, draft beer from America's Oldest Brewery and a homebrew contest, the six-hour event will take place rain or shine from noon to 6 p.m

a lot of people drinking beer in one small area, sounds like a good place to visit with a metal detector. LOL

No history on the Playground.
my uneducated guess just a pocket park created 1990's
when it was named for George Joulwan.
but it could date back to the pool.
the pool was very old. perhaps the reason for the
amount of old coins dug on the hillside.
the Pool was fed by The reservoir .
Perhaps created to Keep everyone from using the reservoir to Cool Off in the Hot summers :laughing7:

The pool was under the Skate park.

The reservoir is the new amphitheater

that & the fact it Bordered the Old Agricultural Park active from June 5, 1866
till ?

I went this morning and walked around, the terrain in wooded areas is not pleasant haha......i give you a salute though, I swung only for like 30 minutes due to time, and digging on the banks and in wooded area is brutal....so many rocks....I had like 3 good signals i couldn't even dig, I just gave up.... Only found 2 cents.....maybe when the weather cools down i can try again

The Growth made the Place hard to hunt anytime but the Winter & close to It.
we actually tried to use a Machete on the Bank beside the skate Park.
I had verbal Permission to hunt from the City, but
I personally felt a Bit uncomfortable, Not knowing Legalities on actually cleaning out Brush.
so that was just a one and done thing

yes brush was bad and many sticker bushes lol.....
a city worker pulled in as i was by the car putting batteries in machine, he said hi and wished me luck

another sad state of pottsville area though, that skatepark is sad, so much trash and nonsense....tumbling run was bad too with garbage....people P!$$ me off, and not from a detectorist stand point either. empty bags, water bottles etc......i tried to clean everything up i seen, and my pouch was full in 10 seconds

This small Piece of Grass is all that is Left from Inside the Pool area
it gave me several Pieces of Jewelry & Deep Coins & allot of Aluminum Foil etc.
there May be a gold Ring there somewhere. But I still haven't hit it with the Explorer.
