Does anyone know anything about the treasure David Lewis supposedly has buried South of Lewistown? There's supposedly $10,000 in gold coins buried in a saddlebag in a cave or under rocks. I'm having trouble finding anymore information on the account.

these are the only 2 he mentioned.

unless it was kept out of his confesion
he never mentiond burying any coin.
gold or silver.

of course there could be several reasons for this.
from them being redug by him later,
to never existing, to a cover up.
to the transcriber believing they were fiction.

Thank you Jeff for such a timely response and the help. I travel the river frequently so I will keep my eyes peeled, even though I imagine it has been washed away by floods over the years. So by my understanding he buried the whiskey bottle in this area as well? Thanks again! If you stumble upon anything else send it my way Jeff!

Hi, I saw your pictures of the description of Pequea Cave also known as the Wind Cave or Cold Cave in Pequea, Pennsylvania.
I was wondering if there was a map of this particular cave in your book.

Thanks.

Does anyone have any information on caves in York County, specifically the southern part of the county? I know of a cave that was supposedly used by Jesse James. From what my dad told me, it was blasted shut by the railroad company long ago because hobos were using it. One can still go in about 8-10 feet. The cave was supposed to be extremely long, with another exit several miles away. The cave is located near the towns of Sinsheim and Brodbecks, with the other exit supposedly in the Seven Valleys area.

Very interesting thread. I've been interested in caves for a while, but instead of getting information about caves that have already been discovered, I'd like some advice about how to actually discover/locate a cave (other than "Step 1: Look for a hole in the ground").

What geological features might suggest the presence of a nearby cave? Since most caves seem to be carved from limestone, I know to begin my search in areas where limestone is present...but then what?
