I came across this site with a ton of links to abandon places in PA. I do not know how or who you would have to ask for permission to MD at these places or if you would even need permission for some of them. I looked thru some of the links, and I don't think all are completely abandon and some of the picture's do show No Trespassing Signs.

Home page - links for other states (I have not checked links for any other state other than PA)

Cool Site.

a little Strange though, to see Crystal Cave listed,
as I don't think it was ever Abandoned.

the one listed for PINE GROVE is still standing but each year it gets
worse. will probably be gone this year or next.
is in SWATARA SATE PARK.

Suedberg Pa And Pine Grove
gone are the Coal shutes, but the site is still obvious.

Coleman Barn ? I wonder if that was in Coleman't park, Lebanon County. if it was it's gone.

DANVILLE HOSPITAL Abandond ?

Witches House ? I wish they gave Directions
this one especially intrests me.

Thanks for the Link.

Nice site thanks but I noticed bushkill park on there but that is not abandoned however it was flooded and is being repaired. I know you said you weren't sure about how to get permission but I'm sure with a little research they are some good places to go. Thanks for the link.

I been searching for more info on these places. Here's what I have so far

Abandoned Slaughterhouse in PA - is actually the Edwards Slaughterhouse (not sure where it is tho) http://www.snowdragon.org/explore/shouse/index.html

Assante's Hotel - Lock Haven, Pa (has since been torn down) I live pretty close to place, only about 5 or 6 miles away. It was supposedly haunted (by rumors) but I have never met anyone that had any personal experiences there.

Blue Coal - AKA Huber Coal Breaker Ashley, Pa
http://www.snowdragon.org/explore/coal/index.html
Pennsylvania was a huge coal mining state. Luzerne county (Where Ashley, Pa is located) has several small coal mining towns. Ashley was unique for it's main Breaker, Huber Coal Breaker - the largest anthracite coal processing building of its kind. Construction on the Breaker was complete in 1939 and operations finally ended 1976. If anyone wishes to see this beast for themselves, it can be seen from Route 81 heading to Wilkes Barre. Once your on the main street in Ashley, its a little hard to miss.

Carbon County Warehouse - Carbon County, PA
The abandoned "warehouse" in Carbon County, PA is no more. It was recently torn down. By the way, it wasn't a warehouse. It was the once mighty Packerton Shops/yards, a train repair shop that was shut down in the late 60's/early 70's. Some fought to keep it from demolition.

HexenKoph Road - Northampton County Easton, PA
Hex Rock. Cursed rock said to glow in the moonlight. “Hexenkopf Rock”, Hexekopf Road, Easton “History of Northampton County” written in 1877…“Among these is one known for a century and a - half, as the Hexen Kopf (witches' head, or knob), in the interior of the township, "an isolated prominence on one of the ridges of the South Mountain. It affords an extensive view of the surrounding country, and having been regarded by the first German settlers, with superstitious awe, as the fancied scene of the witches revelries, has become a place of resort for pleasure parties.". Northampton - Raubsville - Hexankopf Rock - The ghost of a headless hunter, ghosts of witches, strange lights & sounds have all been reported there.

I also found this site... http://www.snowdragon.org/explore/index.html
Listing these places: (there is text mixed in with these picture's and most give's the name of the area they are in)

Abandoned Mill - Lake Township, PA
Byrnesville Washhouse - downtown Centralia along Route 61
Centralia
Closed Route 61
Concrete City - Nanticoke
Coxton Falls - follow the Susquehanna River from Ransom to Exeter
Dickson City Walmart - Dickson City
Edwards Slaughterhouse
El Rancho Adolphus - somewhere near Tompkinsville
Forty Foot Falls - Eastern Archbald
Huber Coal Breaker - Ashley, Pa
Nicholson Bridge
Rupert Railroad Bridge - Route 42 through Rupert
West Mountain Sanitarium

And this site has a lot of history on the Ebensburg Coal Company Colver mine Colver, PA
http://home.earthlink.net/~hilltj/ (has many other links of interest as well)
link to a 1923 map of Colver - http://home.earthlink.net/~hilltj/1923map.html

interesting site Ted, thanks.

Others should know that "many" of the sites listed are not abandoned.

Your Welcome, I know that many are not completely abandoned as I said in my first post but most of the places might be area's to get permission to MD. Couldn't hurt to ask. Some of them are really old with a lot of history to be told. Anyone interested in them tho would have to do their research first tho.

Thanks for posting that site.. I can't believe I didn't see it earlier. My Friends house was built in 1840. Small Cozy little house ..Been in her family for quite awhile :) or should I say her family has been in IT for quite awhile.. :D Directly behind her house-across the street from, and around,(lots of wooded area)..are the remains of an abandoned mine. You look out her back door straight up is nothing but flat rock.. We still go over that hill and dig for bottles.. always find something... Years after the mine closed -you guessed it people dumped their garbage over that side of the hill.. You wouldnt be able to tell today, until you started with the Hoe.. ;)She found about 50 clay marbles around her yard.. She told me to come out this weekend with my metal detector.. teehee..can't wait. ++++ she is putting new pipes in the ground so she is like "tear it up" There was an outhouse on her property at one time. ::) I swear, it looks like, when the house was built,That they blew out a little piece of the hill and shoved the house in to it.. she only has a few feet of backyard ,cause its all uphill afta that..Nice bit of a front yard.. ;D

the abandoned slaughterhouse is no longer there. If it's the one I am thinking of, it was on Pothouse Rd. and Sheeder Rd. right above the Sheeder Mill Covered Bridge. They tore it down about 7 years ago. Maybe not the same one.

I also think I knkow where Hexenkopf road is, and it is NOT near Easton, but rather on the north end of Berks County Near Witchcraft Road, along the hex highway, near Virginville / Windsor Castle.
found this on a website for ya.

Witches' Hill:
What we now call crop circles were thought to be caused by witches by the Amish. The Hexen Danz,as they were called, were supposedly caused by the witches' dancing. Witches were supposed to gather here. Their ghosts, along with balls of light, are still sighted. The hill is west of Allentown and north of Reading, follow along Hexenkopf road to the area between Virginville and Windsor Castle in Williams Township.

Justine.

From a Friend who lives Near there :

"Hex Highway is old Rt 22 the main highway Easton to Harrisburg...before I - 78 was here

Witches Hill is on Witchcraft Rd. in Windsor Twp between Windsor Castle + Virginville

It's still an open field on the hill on the north side of the road"
