Jeff,
If you are going, would you mind if I PM you with a few I am thinking bidding on to take a quick peek at? I don't want the autographed ones, I just want the research materials. The books that interest me are from a bit south of you and I hope they don't draw as much demand. I'll call ahead and put in a few bids before the auction. Darn work is always getting in the way of my fun.

I Wish I hit the powerball last week :P

I'd be buying them all out from under the Histoical societies
which I'm sure will all be there.

Then I'd Open a Coffee Shop/Research Library

& do what one historical society did to me if they come to look.

"I can bring it out, and lay it in front of you, But you can't Touch"

Didn't think I could justify the William Penn Signed Indian Land Deed to the wife but it was a dream. Did you at least have fun? I thought some were going to command a real premium. That was an incredible personal collection. I think I may have better luck hitting the library sales and trying to build my own library that way. Sorry to hear you didn't come home with anything. Your area most have been pretty hot. I asked about a few items and what they were expecting to fetch. That ruled me out since I wasn't even close with my high bids. I thought I could pick a few up for $25 a piece. Boy, was I wrong.

Hahaha I don't think anything sold for $25.00

there was an extreme few that started at $15 but quickly went up
as soon as someone bid.

most atlas's had a standing bid of $100 to start

the first couple started at $50 till it was realized

they were going to run them up.

The only Histoty book from my county sold for over $800.00
& Once bought, she took it & Ran. was just there for it.

Even the few out of state books & Fictions like Catch 22 sold for Hundreds.

Most Bibles from the 1700's 1800's sold for Thousands.

What scares me is the persons who bought the Atlas's
There are people who tear them apart, Make copies of the pages,
Sell them for $35.00 a page And then sell the original pages for
$100.00 each. Sure is big money but Destroying 19th. century books
like that just Irks me to no end.

Was an Enjoyable Day though.
Auction lasted 5 1/2 hours averaging 90 Lots an hour.

Frontier forts of PA 2 volume set sold for $350

Funniest part the second set sold for $275 and the guy who bought
it yelled he only wanted one.
I ended up yelling out
"It's a 2 Volume set East & West PA!"

This guy didn't even seem to care which he got.
Maybe he was going to use it to Prop up his table ???

They did give him both after I yelled
but they were going to put the other one back up for bids.

Makes me wonder if they were just trying to show how much
money they could spend.

A friend who was trying to Keep Track of High bids

missed prices on 58 items
and still Totaled $108,615.00

Considering this $ 110,000.00 + Total May be Accurate.
