You might ask around to some old timers about where they had religious revivals. Those sometimes lasted several days, tent revivals did, with lots of people coming from long distances. If they're still in woodsy or undeveloped areas it might pay pretty well because people slept in truck beds, hay wagons, on the ground in tents, whatever and the preaching and singing going on 24/7 as long as things lasted, so after a nap or meal they'd wander back in.

At least that's how it was in the south and southwest, but I'm betting it wasn't different in PA.

Something worth thinking about

Are you familiar with the defunct parks site ?
http://www.defunctparks.com/parks/PA/indexPA.htm
If not you should check that out.

Other then that also serach post cards on Ebay
type in the names of towns in the area and ad
grove, or park, or picnic, pool, or swimming,
or any other activity that fits park activity.

of course small picnic areas would only be known locally.
so when out detecting and you see an elderly person
smile get their attention and ask.

good luck !
