So, i just called the Hamburg Hist. Soc and they confirmed it I asked who owned it
and they said " Berks County " and the Pa. Fish Commission ? so i don't know if you're allowed
to d - tect there or not ?? i'll have to take a drive up and let you all know thanks for the tip

Thanks Jeff  I talked to the workers they said there's a 1st phase - Midget Soccer field
and a 2nd phase - Adult Soccer field + a Baseball field He did'nt know if they allowed d - tecting
So, i went to leave and i stopped at the maintanance building and my friend was there his co -worker
said just like the sign says Park Regulations - " No Defacing or Damaging Property " >:(
Oh, you can d - tect but, you can't dig it up I said what about the bare ground ( construction area ?
and he was puzzled and said they were gonna seed it today but, we had rain this morning so they put
it off today sorry for the bad news :(

thanks for the update 4/DB, I had hoped maybe they had a change of heart in regards to metal detecting but I guess not. At one time you could get away with it, years back.

I hate those signs...don't do anything...but have a nice day.

I really think we could argue the damaging or defacing property aspect..but what a hassel.

I used to landscape in Fox Chapel, a very ritzy neighborhood. We did a job for a guy with wayyyyy to much money for his own good.

He wouldn't let you walk on his grass early in the morning until the dew dried so you wouldn't leave foot prints in his grass. He readily admitted being an ahole, but said he could afford to get anything he wanted and didnt care what others thought about him. Truer words were never spoken!

I think he must be in with all those that say don't metal detect cause you'll damage the ground.

I was out at this park last summer. I hit it in the early morning while a
few maintenance workers were cutting the grass in the area of their shop.
Hunted all over the place near the pavilions and then by the play areas.
later went down near a few of the fishing spots.
I know I was being watched as I would pull out my butcher knife and dig
a coin but nothing was ever said to me.
Maybe I was just following the best rule very closely: leave the spot nicer
than it was before you started digging. I do not know but they never
stopped me from having some fun.

Just my experience

yep Causing "Damage" Is forbidden everywhere.

however it all depends on who you ask
as to whether digging in the ground for a coin is damage.

When I was there I just got my ace 250 and was still learning/playing
with it. I did find a nice amt. of clad but nothing noteable like a nice ring.
I might have to give it a try again since I got the xlt and it is being good
to me. In the past few weeks my finds have been a 1914 buffalo, a 23,
34, and 39 merc. a 39 washington and a 14 k. ladies wedding band
unfortunately no engraved initials or date to trace the owner.

All except the buffalo that was found just feet from our front porch the
rest was found at a local park that I hit about twice a week for a few
hours in the morning.
I have been trying to get inside the fence at the swimming pool. I figure
the finds wound be good there. So when I get the chance I have been
hanging out close to meet the head of the park maintenance. I asked a few
other workers who have been watching me dig the place up and they
have all stated they see no problem, but they are afraid to grant me
permission. I told them no problem that I understand they could cause
grief for themselves if their boss would not like it and I would just wait til
I could meet him.
