DEER LAKE Drive-in structure nearly gone

DEER LAKE — The last remaining piece of the Deer Lake Drive-In Theatre is slowly disappearing.

For the last few weekends, a third party for property owner Forino Corp. LP, Reading, who wished to not be named, has been removing the screen and says the structure will be entirely down in a few weeks.

Once the site of a thriving drive-in movie theater built in the late 1950s, the property has been vacant and unused since the mid-1990s.

Forino plans to develop 108 single-family homes on the site, according to Ken Schnader, project manager for Forino.

Forino bought the property in December 2003.

Yup, only a memory now I took some photo's when they started the tear down on 6 -14 - 08
I wonder what they got paid for that scrap metal $$

From what I have been told. When Forino bought this property back in 2003 the first thing they did was to bulldoze the place level and took off the entire top of the parking area. I had thought about hunting the ground but then I keep thinking why they plowed it all away.

Yes the Whole thing was dozed.
and being it was very hard Driveway type Ground
and Only to the 50's

Everything from the drive-in era would have went with
dozed ground.

He would have been smart to build an onsite Classifier (Shaker)
and Screen that for all the silver.

And of course the Ton of Aluminum Tabs

I drove by it when went to Centrailia. Marquee is gone. Just a little piece of the screen was left.

Went by this morning. All gone!

It's strange that the landmark that has been there all my life is missing. It's like driving on a different road.

I here you! I had two drive in's around my way growing up. Both are long gone. Someday they will be tearing down buildings to put in parks...........

Bummer. I once worked there. I had to cover for the manager. The drive in was by far my most fun theater.
