Just received my Carrot today. I got out for a quick hunt and it works great. The battery it came with died after about 6 plugs. I actually had another cheap Rayovac 9v to replace the original and back in business. Honestly I did not think it would come with a battery in it especially a Rayovac.

This one actually had an Energizer in it. But like yours...it lasted maybe 15 minutes.

I have a Garrett's Pin Pointer AT & Pin Pointer II and first thing I did was change out the stock Rayovac with an Energizer cause the Rayovac just will not last - just guess the Energizer cost more or Garrett got a good deal on Rayovacs.

I made a mistake, the battery it came with was Eveready, I put a rayovac in it.

-update-
Ran the carrot quite a bit today and it works great with the Rayovac so far. I am really loving this pointer.

The blue/grey colored Rayovac 9v's are great...they last as long as a Duracell or Energizer. Used them often before I switched to Li-Ion rechargeables.

Do not use the yellow "heavy duty" version of Rayovacs...they are Zinc Chloride type and should not be used in a detector or pointer.

The black Eveready battery that came with my original PP was the same...lasted maybe 10 minutes until it died.
