Got a new pin pointer. It’s the new version F Pulse, and it literally falses on everything. I’ve had to recalibrate it everytime I use it. I poke it at the soil, shut it off, then back on. It’ll work then, but having to do it everytime gets really old. I bought it in a package deal through Fisher. I wish they would just change me out it for some other Fisher product.

That is not normal behavior. Call Felix in customer service and talk to him - if he can’t sort it out for you, they will likely just send you another one to replace it.

I was wondering if I’d done something wrong on it or if it was just a defective unit. I mean I’ve read some places that people have gotten them, and they do that, and they send them in, and either get a new one or the same one just fixed.

Check your spring type inside the battery cap. The smaller spring on the left is simply too weak, and the batteries rattle and cause this kind of problem. They sent me two of the larger, stronger spring and cap assys. I had the same problems!

I checked. Mines the longer spring version. I double checked actually, measured how many coils yours showed vs old and then the loop hole at the end of the terminal connector on mine vs your old one and both your new ones and mine are the same

I use energizer alkaline. I called yesterday, and was treated like I was a newbie fool who didn’t know how to operate a pinpointer. I called, and Felix acted like I was doing it wrong, and it’s a me issue, and not their product. I’m about to say the heck with it, and throw it out the door

Did they suggest that you send it in so that they can check it out? It is possible that it is defective,’

In Felix’s defense, he may have been trying to save you the trouble and expense of returning the pinpointer for their checkout. He may have simply been trying to discover if there was something about your use of it which is causing the problem - environment like EMI or extreme mineralization or something about how you used the somewhat unclear controls. This is a powerful pulse induction pinpointer and is different than others we have used.

No, he acted like I wasn’t turning it on properly. I’ve owned pinpointers from the beginning of their conception, and this one is totally jacked up. Broken_detector used it once or twice, and decided to give it back to me out in the field because he couldn’t get it to work right either

One thing i noticed is you can't have any big metal within one foot of it or it will sound off, maybe even your wrist watch. i don't know but possibly your detector is causing the issue. Try running it without your detector near.

Also, do not use lithium type batteries or it will false just like you are talking about. Energizer makes a lithium, they are kinda green colored.

I’m using energizer alkaline, I always have my detector a good ways away from it, I’ve even tried turning it off to see if it would stop. It’ll do it on ground with no metal in it.

He suggested I try what I’ve been doing. Apparently he doesn’t realize I’ve owned every pinpointer that’s been produced, and ground balancing a PI pinpointer isn’t rocket science. I’ve jut left it in my car because having to set it to the soil everytime I use it to turn it off on soil and back on is annoying. That’s after I’ve already turned it on, and tried using it, it begins falsing so I turn it off on soil and then back on and it works right for a few minutes then goes right back to acting up. I’ve read the whole entire book backwards and forwards, and YouTube videos on this, changed frequency to where it doesn’t make my detector chatter, but it lost its setting and begins to false just as soon as I turned it on. Felix mentioned rose turn it on near soil to let it “ground balance” which is what I do, I’m already on the ground when I decide to use it so in essence I’m ground balancing it because I turn it on near soil where there is no metallic objects

Sorry, but you didn’t answer my question - did he give you the option to return it for evaluation? If so, I suggest you do so, they you would either get it fixed or replaced.

I also just sent you a PM offering another solution since you got the F75/pinpointer/digging tool package from me in the first place.

I’m trying it out one more time, and I’ll send it in. No he did not say anything about it, he acted like it was user error. Sorry to say I’ve owned every pointer out there since their conception, and I’ve got a electronic engineering background on working on detectors, pinpointers, and other small electronics. My guess this is either a board issue, or something just not right inside the internals somewhere. If I take it out today and it works well, and doesn’t false out I’ll keep it, otherwise I’ll send it back in to them.

Yea that damn thing is whacked, unless it reaches targets 6 ft in the air something is wrong with it. I could point it in air and it would beep and vibrate like I was touching silver.

Can’t blame Old Mel, his namesake went to first Texas along with teknetics, and bounty hunter.
