Hi everyone I’m in the market for a pinpointer and saw one on amazon by the brand dr otek that is saltwater proof, I’m interested in using it alongside my ace garret 250. Just moved to NZ and really want to have less of a problem in the damp sand. I don’t have resources right now to get a new detector so was curious if I had a pinpointer would this eliminate the false signals picked up from my machine. It’s weird at times I’ll get a signal clear as day after several swipes and I’ll dig and the signal disappears. So if I use the pin pointer on the area will it save me some wasted time?

I also want to use it for when I go snorkeling as an underwater detector so has anyone used this particular brand before? Thanks!

I doubt a pin pointer will help you much with your main detector falsing on you. An Ace 250 is not a good detector for wet salt water sand or water. I'd get something else better suited to that sort of detecting.....such as an Equinox if you want discrimination. As for an underwater pinpointer/detector option.....take a look at a Vibratector made by the same company that makes good dive pin pointers such as the Vibraprobe 580.
