Perhaps the battery is of low voltage, try replacing. Could the area be of high iron content? If not, a trip to Garrett may be in order. :dontknow:

The battery was new, so I first put a piece of double sided tape on the back of the battery, still falsed. Then I immersed the small end of the carrott in boiling water for 30 seconds, then set it upright for several hours. It works fine now, must have had some moisture in it.
