I recently found this mystery item that I think was a tool or weapon. At first, I thought it was made from wood or bone but I don't think so. :icon_scratch: I think it is ceramic due to the weight. It is smooth and covered with a patina from use. Both ends are smooth and rounded. Dimensions: 9inx1in. It fits in my hand perfectly. It is not sharp so I don't think it was a weapon. It is not a netting needle because it does not have a hole or hook for threading. It has a number of marks on it like someone might have been keeping count. It is so simple yet it is baffling. Any guesses? Thanks! stick_tool.jpg stick_tool2.jpg stick_tool3.jpg

, I believe that item is almost certainly bone. very old bone. it's heavy because it's in the process of fossilizing. it very closely resembles a native american artifact called a bone pin. I think you should post that in pre colonial american indian artifact forum.
