American Eagle 1 ounce silver coins ?

hi all, i started buying the American Eagles back in 2000 from coin dealers
and lately i've been looking at the U.S. Mint site to see if the 2009's are available
if i click the 09 it doesn't show any thing nothing on the schedule list either
this past weekend i went to a market and decided to check out the coin dealer
turns out he has the 09's for sale i asked why he had them and not the web site
he said his father gets them from his "supplier" so, i decided to call the mint and
explained that the dealers had them why aren't they available to buy on the web
site turns out she just started (1 week there) and could'nt give me an answer
i searched the web since this happened and i see a lot of dealers selling them
so, i thought i'd ask here how is it a supplier can get them from the Mint
but they aren't available to the public yet whats up with that anyone know ?

I maybe wrong, but I think they have temporarily stopped selling them due to waiting for more silver planchets to be delivered. They will start selling again when they have a new supply.

    thanks for the reply enamel7
i'm know i've been checking the mint web site since the beginning of the year an i'm 99%
sure they weren't available to order 4 weeks into the new year an the coin dealers have
them i assume the suppliers bought them by the bag i don't understand why they aren't
available to everyone at the same time

U.S. Mint Actions Discourage Gold Ownership

Over the past several months, the United States Mint has announced a series of actions and policy changes that make it more difficult for the average individual to buy gold. There have always been plausible or semi-plausible explanations, but the consequence of each action has been to limit or discourage gold ownership.

They May be doing the same with Silver

Here is an answer to your question.

American Silver Eagle bullion coins are not sold directly to the public. Instead, the United States Mint sells the coins through a network of authorized bullion purchasers. These dealers are required to create a two way market with the public, both buying and selling Silver Eagle coins.

    from this website.

You might be able to get proofs or other specialty versions of the coin, but not the basic bullion coin.
