I have some bullion questions
I have never had the extra cash to really invest before, so I have just bought a few coins here and there.
Now I got a little extra monies and I was wanting to buy in bullion but not sure how. I have looked around in this area but haven't found anyone that I can buy from in person, and there are so many places online that my head is spinning. Here is what I want: Just plain jane bars gold and silver at spot or just over.
What is the best way to do this, and if it is online, then who has bought it this way and how was it shipped. I would be nervous about 1oz gold going through the mail or ups, I can't imagine people buying 20-50k and it getting delivered to your door by the postman.
also do they report this to the IRS or anywhere if you start buying gold and silver. I honestly don't want the government to know I have a little horde of it, but if the dollar tanks I want something onhand that I can exchange for food, shelter etc.
You can pm me if you want.
Thanks

It will be nearly impossible to buy any gold or silver at spot or just over. matter of fact I would call it something like 99.9% impossible to buy gold or silver at spot especially if you order online. Here is a rundown on dealers I have bought from the past online and are great sources:
http://www.apmex.com- (My favorite)Perhaps one of the best online dealers out there with lots of varieties and competitive pricing; a little high on the shipping but not too much
http://www.scottsdalesilver.com- Great online store, competitive prices and fast shipping; limited silver choices though
http://www.goldeneaglecoin.com- Nice choice of silver and gold and everything in between, good reviews by many people
http://www.coin-rare.com- Great prices and beautiful rounds/bars
http://www.firstmajestic.com/s/OrderForm.asp- Very Good prices and very nice product; a little bit high on the shipping though
If i was going to suggest a dealer I'd go with APMEX, Scottsdale Silver, Coin-Rare and lastly First Majestic. Theyre all got good pricing but expect to pay anywhere from $1.50-4 over spot for silver, nt sure about gold though

The beauty of PM's is that it does not get reported and you dont have to report your gains when you sell. Any more info dont hesitate to ask. Be aware though that physical gold and silver is in high demand and you will not be able to get it at spot anywhere

Re: I have some bullion questions
Hi Dawn: try a coin show. there is one in Houston this weekend. Should be some in CC several times a year. Are you looking for gold, or silver? I would not and do not buy online, just too risky.
Either that or, call all the coin shops in CC. Ask about PREMIUMS.......ouch....... usually about 40%.
Just be careful.. HH Gayle

I see you are in Germany, is that only true over there (PMs not reported to govt) or are you talking about U.S. govt
Now about buying at spot, do what I do. Go garage sailing
Last Friday I bought 186gr of sterling (small plate and salt & pepper set) for $6 and on Saturday I bought 484gr of sterling (broken candlesticks) for $65

I like the garage sale idea for scrap, and I have been looking at apmex probably going to go with that. I don't think I will be breaking any gold or silver deposits, because even though it seems a lot to me to spend, its like a drop to them. Thanks for all the input.
