    Re: Price of gold

Call jewelery stores that buy gold and shop the scrap gold prices ask for it by the ounce per carat weight 10k,14k,18k, then convert to grams. and weigh your rings.
If you have stones in the rings take them out before you weigh.

Example: Paying $400.00 an oz. for 10k. Your 10k ring weighs 7 grams.= $100.00 based on 28g per oz.

    Hope this helps,

    Re: Price of gold

You need to do a few things, this is what I do.
    1) I check the karat value to make sure it matches what is stamped. I have purchased a few items that are at least 2KT less than what is stamped. I have a Tri-Electronics GT3000, best tool I have ever bought. If you don't have access to an electronic tester go with the stamped KT value with the thought that it might be high.

    2) Weigh the piece on a gram scale.

    3) go to a web page I wrote a few years ago and follow the instructions.
    >enter today's gold price
    >enter the KT
    >enter the grams
    >click on recalculate
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>and you will get the actual 24KT value
